WestWave Dance 2012
is in the planning stages!

The Request for Proposals is available here — it is a simple letter of interest to be returned by email. Please download it and respond as soon as possible.

Visit the 2011 WestWave Dance Website to see what WestWave's 20th season was like. Please check back later for the 2012 roster of artists and schedule.

The 2012 season includes both the shared-program format in a festival timeframe (gala plus five evenings within a two-week period), along with the Monday night series that has been so popular with artists and audiences over the recent past because it gives the choreographers a sense of having a "stand-alone" concert evening.

The most important announcement for the 2012 season is WWD's new partnership with UC Berkeley's Department of Theater, Dance, and Performances Studies. As co-presenters, UCB-TDPS and WestWave will be able to mount the festival (two-week) part of the season in the East Bay for the first time.
WestWave Dance EAST BAY - DanceArt co-presents with UC Berkeley’s Department of Theater, Dance & Performance Studies
Led by WWD Festival Lighting Designer, David K.H. Elliott, UC Berkeley and WestWave Dance have entered into a partnership that gathers lighting designers for an intensive summer focused exclusively on dance production. WestWave artists will be the "talent," and concerts will be mounted in Zellerbach Playhouse (a spectacular venue for dance).

WWD choreographers are regularly asked what they need, and based on responses over the last few years, the #1 request has been for affordable access to performance spaces that will showcase their work well. For artists seeking a theatrical setting, our shared-program format can leverage theater access for dozens of artists who could not afford a venue as self-producers.
WestWave Dance SAN FRANCISCO at Z Space
The remainder of WestWave Dance 2012 is scheduled for presentation at Z Space in San Francisco. These programs will be on Monday evenings (two in August and one in October) and will be “themed”:
[1] Bachanalia – all J.S. Bach evening;
[2] A full evening program by choreographer Maurya Kerr; and
[3] An evening or work by local choreographers over the age of 60.
